Under UK data protection law, individuals may have the right to request the deletion of personal information held about them. This is commonly known as the Right to be Forgotten or Right to Erasure.
The Right to Erase tool in Bionic Cloud helps authorised users identify and remove information associated with an individual across the BBC Bionic Cloud system.
Search for information
Enter the name or telephone number associated with the individual whose information is to be removed.
The system searches for matching information and provides a preview of the records found, allowing you to confirm that the correct individual and information have been identified before proceeding.

Removing information
Once the correct records have been identified, select the option to permanently erase the information.
A warning screen is displayed showing the information that will be deleted. This action is irreversible and the deleted data cannot be recovered.

Before the Permanently Erase button is enabled, you must tick the confirmation box to acknowledge that you understand the data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Deletion should only be carried out once the request has been appropriately authorised in accordance with the BBC’s data protection procedures.
Once completed, the tool provides confirmation of the information that has been processed, providing an audit record to support the BBC’s handling of the request.
